Travelling by Car: Friars Court is located on the A4095, ¼ of a mile south of the village of Clanfield in West Oxfordshire. Some SatNav systems recognise Friars Court as a destination, for others the postcode (OX18 2SU) should direct you to the drive entrance. Follow signs for ‘The House’ then ‘Car Park’. Anyone without SatNav may like to note:
If approaching from the north (A40) pick up the A4095 at Witney signposted for Faringdon. Continue along this road for about 10 miles - there are some roundabouts and T-junctions - just follow the road number. On arrival in Clanfield drive through the village (heading towards Faringdon), go past the village football ground on your right, the entrance to Friars Court is 200 yards after on the left.
If approaching from the south (A420), in Faringdon drive into the central market place and turn up towards the C of E Church, follow the road round to the right then turn left onto the A4095 (signposted Witney). After 3 miles cross the River Thames (lots of bridges, some with traffic lights) passing The Swan Inn on the right. After ¾ mile Friars Court’s drive is the first entrance on the right before the village of Clanfield.
Cars may only be left overnight by pre-arrangement only.
Trains: the nearest train stations are: Long Hanborough (12 miles), Charlbury (16 miles), Swindon (17 miles) and Oxford (22 miles). Rather than relying on the (erratic) local bus service we recommend guests to pre-book taxis to and from the station.
Helicopters: Friars Court has an area available suitable for use as a helipad. Please contact us in advance for permission to land and for advice on the whereabouts of livestock. Landing fee £30.00.
